Thus The Saturday Evening Posts were born. Created out of the realization that we only get about 940 Saturdays with our children before they are grown, I will write in this blog AT LEAST once a week. By forcing myself to at least write in this blog on Saturdays, I will keep myself accountable. Also by freeing myself to only write once a week, I am keeping my evenings available for other pursuits (like homework, housework, and quality time with my husband). I am hoping that this will be a good compromise. I can write as often as I like, but I don't have to feel the stress of "I HAVE TO BLOG TONIGHT." If I am tired or have too much work, I can feel free to skip that night. Every Saturday, though, I will have some recounting of our adventures for the week. I hope you enjoy following along with our days!
So let's begin, shall we? :)
We had a wonderful time this week, although we are still trying to get back into our routine now that the holidays have passed. We spent the first part of the New Year attempting some cleaning and organizing. Little Buddy "helped" in his own special way.
Insisted on getting into his infant cradle. Originally, Pop-Pop had made this cradle for Daddy and we received it once Little Buddy was born. Once he grew out of it, his stuffed animals moved in.
I guess he disagrees with us about the "grew out of it" part.
He was inspired by Daddy's handyman projects, and tried to use his hammer to help. We eventually got him his own board that he could hammer to his heart's content (and to stop him hammering on furniture and toys that didn't need hammering!).
We also spent the week running errands and seeing friends. I think Little Buddy missed our fun lunch dates as much as I did.
Enjoying (surprise, surprise!) a cheeseburger with Momma and Daddy. Might he actually be branching out from his beloved grilled cheese?
Oh, young love! Little Buddy and his current "girlfriend," S. She's four! She decided after Boot Camp one day that she and Little Buddy were best buds. They insisted on holding hands, sitting next to each other at lunch, and constantly hugging. They enjoyed a little date on the carousel as well!
One of many lunch time hugs. They were so cute!
Around the house, things have been pretty much the same. It has been nice to not have to worry about school too much right now (still some reading and paper-writing going on) and to just hang out with my guys. I would say that Little Buddy's highlights for the week include having blueberry pancakes and "hot dogs" (sausage links) for dinner one night and his new found obsession for "The Silly Pirate Song" on one of his old CDs ("Hey dude, surf's up!")! He's pretty easy to please. ;)
Writing lists and making plans, just like his Daddy.
Toga! Toga! Toga!
I am a little worried he is already stealing our sheets for this!
Shopping with Momma and Daddy at Old Navy. He was more impressed with the dog statue than with any of the new clothes!
Watching the Texans get a play-off victory over the Bengals. Watt just happened!
We actually coerced him into a bath by promising he could use the big tub and fill it with bubbles. Yeah, showers are way easier and quicker! I think bubble baths will just be a special treat every so often.
So I hope you enjoy following along with our continued adventures. It won't be as often, but it should be just as fun!
Night all,
LBM
